A shocking film-style shootout took place early in the morning in the Gobindapur Gram Panchayat's Dattapara area under Swarupnagar in the Basirhat subdivision of North 24 Parganas. According to local sources, 32-year-old Isarul Gazi was traveling from his home on a motorcycle toward Tarali village under the Bithari Hakimpur Gram Panchayat in Swarupnagar.
At around 6:30 AM, six miscreants on two motorcycles approached him from behind and opened fire. Despite being shot, Isarul managed to take shelter in a nearby house. However, the attackers took away a coat he was wearing before fleeing the scene. Severely injured and covered in blood, he was rescued by the police and taken to Swarupnagar Sharapul Rural Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
Police suspect that the victim might have been carrying valuable items, which could be the reason behind the attack. Initial investigations suggest that the assailants were not personally known to him, as there is no apparent reason why they targeted him specifically. A search operation is underway to track down the miscreants. Meanwhile, the victim’s body has been sent to the Basirhat district police morgue for an autopsy.
